K-9 Taro Finds Robbery Suspects Inside Target: North Haven Police
After robbing Best Western at gunpoint, two suspects fled from police and were tracked by K-9 Taro after crashing while trying to exit I-91.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two robbery suspects are in custody after robbing Best Western at gunpoint and leading police on a chase on I-91 Tuesday morning in North Haven. Police responded to the Best Western on Washington Avenue at about 10:15 a.m. and saw the suspect vehicle leaving the parking lot.
“Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped onto the highway disregarding the lights and siren,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “As officers approached Exit 10 southbound on I-91, they terminated the chase due to the high speeds and heavy traffic. We later found the suspect vehicle had crashed as the driver attempted to exit the highway onto Universal Dr.
“North Haven’s K-9 Taro was used to track the suspects’ path across Universal Dr., over several rail road tracks and to a tall fence near Target. Officers began to search Target and located the two suspects inside the store.”

Police said the suspects were taken into custody and their identity and charges will be released soon.
