Large Debris Fire Breaks Out At North Haven Metal Recycling Plant
Crews responded to the fire during the early morning hours.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — Firefighters responded to a large fire involving debris piles, machinery and a building at Sims Metal Management, 234 Universal Drive in North Haven, early Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.
NBC Connecticut reports a passerby called in the fire around 4:40 a.m. A machine separator caught on fire and it spread to scrap metal and a building, according to NBC Connecticut.
Officials told the New Haven Register that they’ve battled similar fires at the metal recycling plant and no injuries were reported.
