Man, 27, Accused of Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old North Haven Girl

Christopher Jenkins, of New Haven, was taken into custody Friday after attempting to hide from police in a crawlspace in his basement.

North Haven Police arrested a 27-year-old New Haven man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl several times over the past few months, according to a police press release.

Christopher Jenkins was arrested inside of his New Haven home on Friday (Oct. 24) after he ran from police and attempted to hide in a crawlspace in his basement. With the assistance of the New Haven Police Department, he was taken into custody without further incident.

Police said that Jenkins was employed by his close friend’s family to do yard work and small jobs at the family home in North Haven.

On multiple occasions, Jenkins and his friend’s 14-year-old daughter were alone in the home, according to police.

Jenkins is accused of inappropriately touching the young girl, and forcing her to perform sex acts with him.

Jenkins was arrested on charges of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault, and risk of injury to a minor. He is being held on a $250,000 bond and will appear in Meriden Superior Court on Monday.
