Man, 54, Charged with Burglarizing Business Under Construction: North Haven Police

Police say the arrest stems from an investigation that began in 2015 when a business was burglarized while it was under construction.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man has been charged in connection to a 2015 burglary in which a laptop was stolen from a business that was under construction, according to police.

North Haven Police took Robert Amato, 54, into custody early Friday morning and charged him with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny.

The arrest stems from an investigation that began in June 2015 when a Universal Drive business was under construction.

During the construction phase, a trailer was broken into and the business’ laptop computer was taken, according to police.

Police said Amato was found attempting to sell the stolen laptop months later.

He was held on a $2,500 bond and will be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court later today.
