It was determined the victim and suspect are known to each other, according to police.
Officers conducted a search of the home and found 43-year-old New Haven resident David Palmisano hiding under a mattress, according to police.
Police said Palmisano was taken into custody without further incident.
“Officers rendered aid to the victim and confirmed Palmisano’s identity, at which time it was also determined he had an active extraditable arrest warrant out of the State of New York,” police wrote in a news release.

Palmisano was arrested on charges of second-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault, interfering, second-degree threatening, first-degree unlawful restraint, home invasion, and first-degree burglary. He was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and appeared in court on Monday morning. The State of New York has been notified and will be pursuing extradition on the outstanding warrant, according to police.
“The North Haven Police Department is grateful this incident did not result in more serious injury and commends the actions of the victim, and the swift response of officers in bringing the situation under control,” police wrote.
