Man Burglarized Liquor Store In North Haven: Police

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Meriden man is accused of burglarizing a liquor store in North Haven early Wednesday morning, according to police.

North Haven police responded to Sav Rite Liquors at 117 Washington Ave. around 4:30 a.m. on the report of an alarm.

Officers found that part of the storefront glass had been smashed and the store had been burglarized, according to police.

Police said a suspect was identified and, with the assistance of the Wallingford Police Department, 57-year-old Jeffrey Nanfito was found and detained.

Nanfito was found in possession of items linking him to the burglary, and probable cause was established for his arrest, according to police.

Police said Nanfito was taken to the Meriden Police Department for unrelated charges out of Meriden, and was then returned to North Haven for charges in connection with the burglary.

Nanfito was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny, and third-degree burglary.
