Man Charged In Armed Carjacking In North Haven: Police
Police said the man fired a shot while carjacking an Uber driver, who had taken the suspect and a juvenile to their destination.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Hartford man has been arrested in connection with the armed carjacking of an Uber driver last month in North Haven, according to police.
Police received a 911 call on March 1 from a victim who was carjacked at gunpoint on North Frontage Road.
The victim, who was an Uber driver, picked up a 17-year-old juvenile and 20-year-old Jehki Stewart of Hartford, from an address in Hamden and took them to their destination on North Frontage Road, according to police.

“Once on North Frontage, one of the suspects produced a firearm and demanded the victim exit the vehicle,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “The victim initially refused to exit the vehicle at which time one of the suspects fired his weapon, which struck the dashboard of the vehicle. The victim subsequently exited the vehicle.
“Immediately after the armed carjacking, the two suspects traveled to West Haven where they committed an armed robbery of a jewelry store. The investigation of the incidents produced probable cause for the arrest of the two suspects. “

Stewart was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree robbery – firearm threat, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery – firearm threat, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver, larceny of motor vehicle – first offense, conspiracy to commit larceny of motor vehicle – first offense, and illegal discharge of firearm. He was being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
Police said more arrests are expected in connection with the case.
