A .22-caliber handgun was found inside the vehicle, and police said 24-year-old Adam Marin was arrested.

Marin, who police said has a prior criminal history, was charged with breach of peace, unlawful discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, and reckless endangerment.

Marin was held in lieu of a $200,000 bond by North Haven police, along with three additional court-ordered arrest warrants, with those bonds totaling more than $80,000, according to police. Marin was taken to Meriden Superior Court on Wednesday morning, police said.

“Unfortunately, we continue to see theft and reckless behavior in the Universal Drive area,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “We will continue to apply both marked and unmarked resources to problem areas in town, as well as leveraging technology to aid in investigations. We will not tolerate reckless behavior, especially involving firearms, in our community.”
