Man Found with 10 Knives, 9mm Handgun, Marijuana During Traffic Stop: North Haven Police

Police say the man had a suspended license and was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Bridgeport.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Derby man faces several charges after police say he was found to be in the possession of 10 knives, a 9mm handgun and marijuana during a traffic stop in North Haven.

North Haven officers conducted a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation on Nov. 26, according to police.

While speaking with the operator of the vehicle, officers noticed a jar full of what looked like marijuana, police said in a press release.

The operator, 51-year-old Richard Quint from Derby, was found to have a suspended license and an outstanding arrest warrant from Bridgeport, according to police.

Officers located a marijuana smoking pipe and 10 knives in different pockets and locations they say were concealed by Quint’s clothing.

Officers placed Quint under arrest and a search of the vehicle revealed a 9mm handgun inside of Quint’s coat pocket in the rear seat of the vehicle, according to police.

Police said Quint was charged with a host of criminal offenses and released to Bridgeport Police where he was held on a $50,000 bond pending arraignment.
