Man Pulled Knife On Security At Home Depot: North Haven Police

Police arrested one man who they say waved a knife frantically at store security while attempting to shoplift. A second suspect ran away.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 54-year-old man was arrested after police say he pulled a knife on store security while trying to steal merchandise from Home Depot and later fought with officer while being apprehended. Police responded to Home Depot in North Haven at about 12:40 p.m. on July 7 on the report of a robbery in progress.

Police said two men attempted to take merchandise, and when approached, one pulled a knife and “frantically waved it at security while in close proximity.” Both ran from the store before police arrived on the scene.

The suspect who was waving the knife was apprehended after he ran a few hundred yards and fought with officers, according to police. The second suspect fled the area.

Noel Santiago, 54, was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, interfering with officers, carrying a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a shoplifting device, fifth-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Monday morning.
