Man Seen Looking Into Women's Bedroom Arrested: North Haven Police

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A 48-year-old man who served as a volunteer softball coach in Wallingford was caught on video peering into a bedroom Thursday night at a North Haven apartment complex, according to police.

Shawn Cornell, of Wallingford, was later arrested and charged with voyeurism with malice, second-degree stalking and breach of peace, police announced.

Two young women reported seeing a man looking through their bedroom window at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Washington Avenue on May 8, police said, noting the incident was captured on exterior video footage.

"The victims reported this has occurred several times in the past, and they do not know the individual on the video footage," police said.

Officers located a suspect a short distance from the apartment complex, and an investigation confirmed it was Cornell who was looking into the bedroom window, according to police.

Cornell was held on a $10,000 bond.

According to the Wallingford Girls Softball League, Cornell was a volunteer coach.

"This morning the Wallingford Girls Softball League was made aware of an alleged incident last night in the Town of North Haven that involved one of our volunteer coaches. This individual is no longer affiliated with WGSL," the league said in an email Friday morning. "This alleged incident occurred outside of and did not involve WGSL, but these actions will not be tolerated. The safety, security and trust of our players and families are paramount."
