First Selectman Freda Announces Vanacore Concession, Meeting and Bathroom Facility Construction to Begin

First Selectman Michael J. Freda announced today that the Town of North Haven's Finance Department in conjunction with its Grantor, the State of Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Conservation (DEEP) has awarded the Vanacore Concession, Meeting and Bathroom Facility Construction project to state bidder Capasso Restoration Incorporated (‘Capasso’) of North Haven. The project’s design was completed by Capital Studio Architects, LLC. of East Hartford.

Please join the Project Stakeholders at the October 26 groundbreaking ceremony to be held at 5:30 P.M. at the Michael Vanacore Field Complex located at 55 Bailey Road in North Haven.

The Vanacore Concession Facility will be comprised of a concession room, public bathrooms, meeting rooms and storage areas and will be open for use by members of the public, the Board of Education Athletics, Youth and Varsity Football Programs.

Capasso, its subcontractors and members of the New Haven Building Trades shall construct a 4,800 square foot single-story masonry block and wood structure, including site work, utilities, permitting, concrete, masonry, roofing, doors, frames and hardware, carpentry, plumbing and plumbing accessories, painting, electrical work and electrical accessories. The project also includes the demolition of the existing Concession facility once the new structure is completed.

Construction is slated to begin in late October and will be substantially complete by the Fall of 2019, weather permitting.

The project is funded through the State of Connecticut’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) Grant ($500,000) and through labor provided by the New Haven Building Trades.

“The Vanacore Concession Facility project is a unique example of interested parties coming together and working toward the common goal of improving a public recreational and gathering facility. Members of Youth Football, the Departments of Public Works and Finance, our State’s Legislators, Board of Education Facilities & Grounds, Athletics and personnel from the New Haven Building Trades have worked in a collaborative fashion to see this important improvement project commence”, First Selectman Freda stated.

Further information on the Vanacore Concession, Meeting and Bathroom Facility project may be obtained by contacting the Department of Public Works at (203) 239-5321, extension 400.
