New Monument Planned For Town Green In North Haven

A ground-breaking ceremony for the new monument will take place on Veteran's Day.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A ground-breaking ceremony will be held on Veteran’s Day for the new post-Vietnam Soldiers’ Monument that will be located on the Town Green, according to town officials. The ceremony will take place on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. on the Town Green with an unveiling of the completed monument to follow in the spring.

The public is invited to attend the ground-breaking ceremony where First Selectman Michael Freda, along with state representatives, will join together with the American Legion Post 76 to honor all of North Haven’s veterans. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the American Legion Hall located across from the green at 20 Church Street.

“I am very pleased that the vision of this monument shared by so many, and spearheaded by Colonel Raymond Fowler, is coming to fruition,” Freda said in a press release. “It is so important to show our appreciation and recognition to all of those men and women who have selflessly committed themselves to our country and the preservation of the many liberties that we enjoy.”
