Now, after winning his fifth state championship in his 57th season as coach, everyone is wondering if DeMayo will ride off into the sunset with a storybook ending?
DeMayo, who contemplated retiring last year after undergoing serious knee surgery after slipping on ice, didn’t sound like he was done on Saturday night, according to the New Haven Register’s Chip Malafronte.

“Right now, that’s the feeling I have,” DeMayo told Malafronte of coming back for more. “I love the challenge. I’ve been doing it so long; it would be a real void in my life. I feel I can still do the job, and the kids are still getting something out of it. Once I lose that, I’m gone.”
