NORTH HAVEN, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in North Haven and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

North Haven Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Patricia Brown is running for re-election to the Board of Finance as a Democrat. In addition to the Board of Finance, she has also served on the Open Space Advisory Committee and North Haven Democratic Town Committee. She has 35-plus years of managing finances, preparing budgets with multiple funding sources, overseeing construction projects and negotiating contracts and services. Her experience includes streamlining operations and reducing costs.

Sufficient public safety apparatus and will work in a bipartisan fashion to increase funds for needed apparatus.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have held the position on the BOF since 2007 and have experience with the municipal budgeting process and working with a bipartisan board to make changes.

Will continue to find ways to cut taxes, encourage public participation in meetings and provide the best services at the lowest cost to taxpayers

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have reduced taxes and preserved open space while on the BOF.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I've developed, defended and managed multi-million-dollar budgets throughout my professional career. I've held administrative positions at City of Hope National Medical Center, UCLA Medical School, UCLA AIDS Institute and Yale University. As a NASA research associate, I participated in the first joint US-Russian unmanned spaceflight as NASA’s gastric ulcer specialist. In my spare time, I enjoy walking my dog, reading, road trips and talking with friends.
