North Haven Election 2021: Coppola For Zoning Board of Appeals

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The 2021 municipal election is heating up in North Haven with plenty of races on the ballot.

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 2 and cast their ballots for the Board of Selectmen, Board of Education, Town Clerk/Tax Collector and more.

North Haven Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Republican Luigi (Lou) Coppola, Sr., 48, is running for North Haven Zoning Board of Appeals in North Haven.

Occupation: Assistant Building Official / Remodeling Contractor

Experience: North Haven Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate

Family in government: Myself - Town of Wallingford Building Department

The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

"Maintaining strong economic development" The success of good economic development from the highest level of large commercial businesses entering North Haven trickles down to the average homeowner and I intend to use my knowledge and skillset to help all those who come before our Board as best as possible.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I've lived in North Haven for over 20 years and have had my Remodeling business here as well. I've created really good connections with many residents in town and I will continue to do so. Our first Selectmen Mike Freda asked me to join the North Haven Middle School Building Committee a few years back and I was able to contribute my knowledge of Construction as well as learning the process of a multi-million dollar renovation. Another benefit that I can contribute is that I am also a licensed CT Building Official for which I currently hold a position at the Town of Wallingford. My knowledge in Residential and Commercial Construction will greatly help the position I am seeking and I look forward working with all the Applicants and my fellow Board Members.

Accomplishments:

-Voted Best Contractor in North Haven multiple times. -2012 Voted within Top 550 Remodeling Contractors in USA. -CT Home Improvement Contractor since 2002. -Licensed CT Building Official since 2016

-Manager of North Haven CERT Team. A FEMA organization that was created in town and we report directly to the Fire Chief and the OEM (Office of Emergency Management).
