North Haven Girls Soccer Team’s Historic Season Ends In Class L Final
The Nighthawks became the first team in the program's history to advance to the state championship game.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — The North Haven High School girls soccer team’s historic season came to an end with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Masuk in the Class L state tournament final at Trinity Health Stadium in Hartford on Saturday.
It was the first state title in the Masuk girls soccer program’s history, while North Haven was making its first-ever appearance in the state finals – for either the girls or boys program.
The North Haven Athletic Department posted a tribute on social media highlighting the Nighthawks’ accomplishments this season, despite the disappointing finish.

“Disappointing, for sure,” the post reads. “But, let’s keep in mind the historic season the girls’ soccer team just experienced. They finished the regular season with a record of 12 wins, 3 losses, 1 tie. Overall, their record was 15 wins, 5 losses, 1 tie. On the road to the team’s first ever appearance in the state finals, first for either NHHS soccer team, they defeated the #4 seed, the #1 seed and played the #2 seed in a very even game all the way to the final second.
“Lots to be proud of and much to look forward to for next season. Congratulations and thanks for a great journey to our North Haven Nighthawks Girls’ Soccer Team.”
