North Haven Home Burglarized in Water Authority Scam: Police
An observant landscaper helped interrupt the burglary, resulting in the arrest of one man and police are searching for two more suspects.

North Haven, CT — With the help of an observant landscaper, police have arrested one man on burglary charges and are searching for two other accomplices in a scam in which the suspect claimed to be a representative of the South Central Connecticut Water Authority.
North Haven Police said that at about 4 p.m. on Thursday (July 7), a man knocked on the door of a Primrose Street home claiming to be a representative of the water authority and convinced the homeowner to accompany him to the basement while he checked the water pipes.
While doing so, the suspect’s two accomplices entered the home, according to police.

Police said an observant landscaper, who was nearby and familiar with the homeowner, noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the home. He confronted the suspects who fled the area in a vehicle.
North Haven Officers responded, secured the scene, and conducted an extensive search of the area including a K-9 track.

An area broadcast was given out for the suspects and the description of the vehicle that fled the scene.
Approximately five minutes later, Connecticut State Police located the suspect vehicle traveling on I-91.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver was taken into custody, according to police.
The accomplices were not immediately located.
Joe Mcgil, 49, of Warminster, Pennsylvania, was charged with second-degree burglary, conspiracy, aiding and abetting, possession of narcotics and failure to keep drugs in a proper container.
Mcgil was held on a $50,000 bond and will be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court.
