North Haven Honors Fallen Officer on Police Memorial Day
Officer Timothy W. Laffin died in the line of duty on May 29, 1980.

Today, May 15, 2015, please join the North Haven Police Department in honoring fallen Police Officer Timothy W. Laffin as this day marks the Police Memorial Day.
Timothy W. Laffin was working the evening shift on May 12, 1980 in the Town of North Haven. Officer Laffin, who was a three-year veteran of the North Haven Police Department, was involved in a high-speed pursuit. While negotiating a curve on Route 17, Officer Laffin’s vehicle crashed into a tree. He sustained severe injuries from the crash, and at the age of 24, Officer Laffin succumbed to his injuries on May 29, 1980. Officer Laffin was survived by his expectant wife Lori.

Officer Laffin’s years of service to the North Haven community will never be forgotten. His story affects every police officer who wears a North Haven badge. Officer Laffin is the only town officer who has died in the line of duty, and his name is first on the granite memorial that now rests in the front yard of police headquarters on Linsley Street.
