North Haven Long Term Recovery Group Helps With Recovery Efforts

Team Rubicon is comprised of volunteer military veterans and first responders who serve their communities during emergencies.

Press release from the North Haven Long Term Recovery Group: It has been little more than a week since the F-1 tornado hit our town and others in the area. The North Haven Long Term Recovery group is standing up to work with our partners to help our residents clean up and get back to their lives. We are providing coordination, funding and volunteers.

Our partners include Team Rubicon, United Way 2-1-1, Christian Aid Ministries, The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army and CT VOAD. With the support of our Emergency Management director, these groups are out there now to assist in our affected neighborhoods.

We appreciate all of our non-profit partners. Some of you have already met Christian Aid Ministry members, who have been out clearing debris for the past week. The American Red Cross has been out doing damage assessments and meeting with townspeople. United Way 2-1-1 has an online survey for those citizens who need help removing trees. The Salvation Army is helping with feeding the more than 30 Team Rubicon volunteers.

About the team:
Team Rubicon is comprised of volunteer military veterans and first responders. Their mission is
to serve communities by mobilizing, continuing their service, leveraging their skills and experience to help others prepare, respond and recover from disasters. They prioritize assistance, beginning with seniors, veterans, those who are disabled and those most in need. They do not refuse anyone. Team Rubicon put out a call to their members to help our towns and they stepped up.

We are asking for you to step up as well – there are a couple of ways to help:
Can you drop off some water, power bars and snacks for the teams?
Do you know of a restaurant who might donate or discount dinners to provide to Team Rubicon?
Can you give a few hours to help carry branches?
Our Long Term Recovery group will have a member at the Montowese Fire House at 8 am and 1 pm starting Monday, the 6 th . Volunteers will be assigned and sent out to a group to help carry branches to the curb.
