North Haven Man Surprises Girlfriend with Marriage Proposal After Sacred Heart University Graduation

A man surprised his girlfriend by popping the question in the lobby of the Webster Bank Arena soon after she received her diploma.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A special day was made even more memorable with a surprise marriage proposal after Sacred Heart University’s graduation ceremony Sunday at the Webster Bank Arena.

The Connecticut Post reports that as students were filing out after receiving their diplomas, North Haven’s Josh Tong dropped to one knee in the center of the lobby and popped the question to his girlfriend of five years, Erin Civitelli of Stratford.

She said yes.

Tong told the Post that he came up with the idea of a surprise proposal partly because he wanted to make Civitelli’s graduation special.
