North Haven Nursing Home Fined After Resident's Death: Report
The Connecticut Department of Public Health recently fined the nursing home for an incident in which a resident fell and died two days later

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A North Haven nursing home was one of two in the state to be fined for violations connected to a resident’s death.
Cara Rosner of the Connecticut Health I-Team reports Montowese Health and Rehabilitation Center was fined $1,950 by the state Department of Public Health for an incident in which a resident was injured in a fall and died two days later last November.
The resident, who had chronic kidney disease and other ailments, fell from a bed after a consent form for the use of enablers didn’t specify how many side rails were to be used on the bed, according to Rosner.
The resident suffered a blood clot in the brain and other injuries and died two days later, Rosner reports.
Overall, six nursing homes in the state were recently fined for various violations.
