North Haven Police Investigate Attempted Home Burglary

Police said the suspect broke into a breezeway but was apparently scared off by a home alarm on Friday.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police are investigating an attempted burglary of a Knollwood Road residence that occurred on Friday.

Police responded to a house alarm on Aug. 19 and arriving officers found signs of forced entry into a breezeway.

Police said a sweep of the residence revealed no one was inside of the home. Police established a perimeter and North Haven’s K-9 team was deployed. The K-9 track ended a short distance from the home.

The investigation revealed a neighbor observed a man knocking on the door to the victim’s home prior to the police response, according to police.

The suspect was described as a black man with dreadlocks. He was heavy set and wearing shorts and a light colored T-shirt.

Police said it appears the alarm deterred the suspect from entering the residence because nothing was reported missing from the home.
