North Haven Police: Maintenance Worker Sexually Assaulted Woman Inside Her Apartment

The victim had asked the man to fix her air conditioning.

North Haven police have charged a 32-year-old apartment building maintenance worker for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman after she asked him to come in and fix her air conditioner.

Officers responded to the apartment complex at 100 State Street on May 8 after receiving a 911 call.

The woman flagged down the apartment maintenance worker, later identified as Bernardo Corona, and asked him to fix her air conditioning unit, according to police.

Corona came into the apartment alone and fixed the unit while the victim watched.

Prior to leaving, he began to kiss the victim, and groped her breasts, according to police.

The victim attempted to stop him, but Corona continued kissing her and touching her body above the clothing. The victim blacked out, and when she awoke, Corona was gone, according to police.

An arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday morning and police took Corona into custody. He was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault.

Corona was held on a $10,000 bond and will be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on May 13.
