North Haven Police: Man Charged with Striking Girl in Head with Shovel

The girl was attempting to break up a fight during a party.

A North Haven man was charged with striking a juvenile female in the head with a shovel while she was trying to break up a fight during a party.

Police said that a verbal argument at a party on Round Hill Road turned into a serious assault this past January.

While two 19 year-olds were engaged in the altercation, a juvenile female attempted to stop the fight, according to police.

While the girl was holding back one of the males, the other retrieved a nearby shovel. The man, later identified as 19-year-old David Locklear, swung the shovel striking the juvenile female in the head. She was later transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Locklear was arrested on a warrant and charged with second-degree assault.
