North Haven Police Sergeant Retires After 25 Years

Officials said the sergeant has been a "mentor to countless officers along the way."

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Police Sgt. John Scarpa is retiring after 25 years of service with the department.

“John has served at the PD for over 2 decades and has been a mentor to countless officers along the way,” reads a post on the North Haven Police Department’s Facebook page. “With stops in the Detective Bureau, SWAT team, and being a patrol supervisor for a large portion of his career, John has experienced much in his career. Beyond being a great supervisor, John is simply a great person to know.

“The void we will have upon his retirement is not something that can be filled from reading a textbook or attending a class. John treated those under his command, and those in the public he served, with respect, dignity, and fairness.
