North Haven Resident Receives GNAC Honors

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven’s Joe Russo, a senior goalkeeper on the Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team, has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Russo registered a solid week in net for Albertus, posting 13 saves on 14 shots in a 2-0 week. The senior notched his fifth win of the year in a 3-1 victory over USJ, stopping 12 shots before recording his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Rivier. He also posted a .929 save percentage over 174 minutes of action.

The men's soccer team closes out the 2018 regular season with a home non-conference matchup against Westfield State on Senior Night (Oct. 22). Prior to the 7 p.m. kick-off, the men's soccer team will be honoring its six-member senior class - John Brunetti (West Haven, Conn.), Joe Russo, Kaj Djonne (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Luis Sandoval (Hamden, Conn.), Tyler Saad (Naugatuck, Conn>0 and Anthony Bartolini(Waterbury, Conn.).
