North Haven Weather Outlook: Wintry Mix for the Weekend; Cold Temps Follow

Be careful when out and about Saturday. Jan. 3, into Sunday morning.

New year, new weather report and it’s a cold one! Saturday, Jan. 3, will bring clouds and cold temperatures during the day.

Meteorologist Gil Simmons predicts snow will start to fall between 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday, before we see a changeover to a wintry mix and then rain.

In North Haven, most of the snow is expected to start mainly after 4 p.m. with a high near 36 degrees, but with wind chill values between 20 and 25 degrees. It is expected to turn to a snow/sleet mix between 9 p.m. and midnight and the snow/ice accumulation is expected to be less than an inch in North Haven, according to the National Weather Service.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the mix is slated to switch to rain as temperatures warm up. Sunday’s forecast is calling for warmth (relatively speaking) and wind.

Sunday’s temperatures will be in the low to mid-50s range for much of the state, the National Weather Service reports.

Temperatures will plummet as the day goes on, with the NWS forecasting a low of 30 degrees Sunday night. Monday is slated to be sunny, with a high temperature in the mid-30s.
