North Haven Youth Football Teams Post Perfect Opening Week
North Haven goes 3-0 in Week 1 action.

The North Haven sixth-grade Indians came back to beat Bristol 28-18.
The Indians trailed 12-0, but then Gino Shiavo connected with Isiah Earle for a 25-yard gain. On the next play David Pace scampered 38 yards to the 2 where Earle puched it in (extra point good by Patrick Lilis).
North Haven then took the lead on a 10-yard run by Anthony Rapuano. The score was set up by a 70-yard run by Schiavo.

With the Indians trailing 18-14, Rapuano returned the kickoff 40 yards to the Bristol 35. David Pace went in from 24 yards (extra point good) to take the lead 22-18.
With Bristol driving deep inside North Haven territory the Indians were able to hold Bristol at the 10 yard line. The next play from offense, Rapuano went 90 yards to seal the victory.

The Indians were led on defense by James Loda, Justin Perille, Kyle Nichols and Lorenzo Pepe.
The fifth-grade Indians (1-0) won their opener with a 26-0 victory over Old Saybrook/Westbrook at Vanacore Field.
North Haven’s unrelenting defense dominated the Rams all day and did not allow a single completed pass.
Spencer Mulligan opened the scoring on the Indians opening drive with a 59-yard touchdown run. A pass from Matt Dodge to Ryan Balzano on the extra point conversion made the score 7-0.
Matt Dodge scored a second-quarter touchdown on a 3 yard run. After that Indian score, a pass, this time from Balzano to Dodge, was also successful on the extra point attempt making the score 14-0 at the half.
The Indians sustained a long drive in the third quarter culminated by another Dodge touchdown, this time on a 9 yard run.
North Haven closed the scoring in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Balzano.
North Haven’s offensive line blocking opened running lanes all day led by efforts from Leo Kattis, Stephen Loda, Cole DeCusati, Jake Langner, M.J. DeVilliers, Michael Rubano and Riley Sykes. Mateo Crisanti, Luca Onofrio, Paul Cappella, Anthony Cavaliere, and Brendan Jooss disallowed the Ram offense to achieve outside running lanes and Nick Judd, Joe Piper, Grant Curtis, Johnny Appleby, Nick Bracale, Michael Bachmann, Thomas Biehl, and Kennyel Santiago made sure the middle of the defense was not available either.
The North Haven fourth-grade Indians opened up their 2014 season with a 32-6 win vs. Wallingford. Dominic Liquori intercepted Wallingford’s pass on their first drive and North Haven capitalized with a 5-yard touchdown run by Nick Magro and the point after kick by Declan Finkle put North Haven’s lead at 8-0.
Tariq Elmammann had two touchdown runs of 10 and 12 yards to make the score 20-6 at halftime. Jeffrey Karavas and Antonio Fusco each scored on 16-yard runs in the second half to finish up the scoring.
The fourth-grade line anchored by Michael Bolduc, Shunya Yamamoto, Sal Schepisi, Dylan Donnelly, and Drew Grillo blocked well all game long to allow for the 5 touchdown runs. The fourth-grade defense held Wallingford all day with great defensive play by Ryan Skoronski, Bennett Dellavalle and Tyler Harger.
Michael Masto and Caleb Somma each had a fumble recovery as well.
The seventh and eighth grade teams had byes.
