The Indians once again played a physical game. Trailing 13-0 in the third quarter (7-0 at half) Patrick Lillis ran in for the score from 46 yards out. His 2 point conversion made it 13-8.
The Indians were able to stop Madison twice in the fourth quarter. Gino Schiavo had an interception and James Loda had a fumble recovery to give the Indians back the ball.
The Indians were unable to convert on a fourth-and-2 with 1:52 left in the game giving Madison back the ball.
North Haven was led offensively by Patrick Lillis, who had 82 yards rushing and the line was led by key blocks from Amir Zureiqui and Anthony Vigiotto.
David Pace also contributed with 17 yards on the ground.
Defensively the Indians were led by Sean Fenton, who had several tackles throughout the day and 4 for a loss. Alex Dejesus and Hayden Tomlin also added key tackles.
The Indians will be home versus North Branford next week.
The NHYF fourth-grade team suffered a tough 12-7 loss to a speedy Manchester team.
North Haven scored first on a long drive finished off by a Ryan Bernardo touchdown run and extra point.
The offense performed well all day running behind JP O’Neill, Albert Rotondo and Nick Piscitelli, but just couldn’t get into the end zone.
The defense stopped Manchester’s backs most of the day led by linebackers Tyler DiMauro, Dustin Arsich and Bernardo.
The fifth and sixth grade teams had bye weeks.
