North Haven's Pete Zacharias Earns GNAC Player of the Week Honors
Zacharias is a senior on the Albertus Magnus men's tennis team.
North Haven’s Pete Zacharias, a senior on the Albertus Magnus men’s tennis team, was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week on Monday.
Teammate Jeff Pellegrino, of Meriden, was named the league’s Rookie of the Week.
Zacharias posted a perfect 4-0 record last week to help lead the Falcons to victories in both of their matches. Albertus is off to a 3-0 start to the season.

Zacharias started the week with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles then worked with Pellegrino at No. 1 doubles to earn an 8-3 victory. He finished the week with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles and an 8-4 No. 1 doubles win against CCNY.
Pellegrino, who teamed up with Zacharias in both those doubles’ victories, also dominated his singles’ play as he won in No. 3 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 against Lesley. He continued his stellar start to his collegiate career with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over CCNY’s No. 3 singles’ player.
