Obituary: Ellen M. Shea LeGrand, 83, Of North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Ellen M. Shea LeGrand, 83, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Charles LeGrand Sr.

Ellen was born in New Haven on October 3, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Rosamond Blaisdell Shea.

She had worked for the former Edward Malleys Department Store, was a bus monitor in North Haven for the former Nutile Bus Company, was the owner of Ellen’s Antiques, and later, her and her husband were the owners and operators of C & E Wood Products and Snow Removal.

Ellen was a New York Yankees baseball fan and an avid bowler. Mother of Charles LeGrand, Jr. and Daniel (Doreen) LeGrand. Grandmother of Amy (Justin) Handy, Michael (Christa) LeGrand, Patrick and Samantha LeGrand. Great-Grandmother of Alyssa, Rachel, Tyler and Carter Handy. Sister of Patricia Johnson. Sister-in-law of Marguerite Ferrucci.

The visiting hours will be Sunday, Oct. 15 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 16 at 12 noon. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
