Obituary: Joann Natale Hassett, 77, of North Haven

She had worked as a secretary at St. Raphael's Hospital for many years until her retirement.

Joann Natale Hassett, 77, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael’s Campus with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Hassett for 56 years. Joann was born in New Haven on February 6, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Napolitano Natale.

She had worked as a secretary at St. Raphael’s Hospital for many years until her retirement. Joann loved to travel and most of all spending time with her family and friends whom she loved unconditionally.

Mother of Catherine (Robert) Sudol and James Hassett. Grandmother of Justin and Andrew Sudol. Sister of Rae (Michael) Lorenz, Frank (Faye) Natale and Rose (James) Nolan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Closer to Free Fund, which jointly supports Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven and Yale Cancer Center, PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements
