Obituary: Joseph Francis St. Clair Jr., 89, Of North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Joseph Francis St. Clair Jr., 89, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Audrey Smith St. Clair.

Joseph was born in New Haven on October 4, 1934, and was the son of the late Joseph F. St. Clair Sr. and Margaret DellaCamera Pierson. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army.

Joseph worked as a truck driver for heavy duty construction equipment at F.P. Ryan in North Haven for many years and was a member of Teamsters Local 443. He was a devoted member of St. Frances Cabrini Church and was on the Bingo committee.

Joseph was a sports enthusiast and had a deep passion for all sports, but his favorite sport to watch was his grandsons’ softball games. He enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, he has seen all 50 states, many National Parks, and professional baseball fields around the country.

Loving father of Cindy Scalesse (Wade), Kevin St. Clair, and the late Jo Anne Joy and Scott St. Clair. Beloved grandfather of Christopher Joy (Christine), Brian Joy (Jordan), Katie St. Clair (Agustine Nieto), Sarah Cook (Shiloh), Nicole St. Clair, Matthew St. Clair, and Laura Scalesse (fiancé Brian Werdann). Great grandfather of Ava, Grace, Kera, Caylei, James, Mia, Lucian, Aubree, and Amelia. Predeceased by his brother Ronald St. Clair.

The visiting hours will be on Friday morning, Jan. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 12:00. Interment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum.
