Obituary: Lawrence Lawler Sr., 79, Of North Haven

Larry played football for the Westchester Bulls, a farm team for the New York Giants, and served as a New Haven Firefighter for 27 years.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Lawrence Lawler Sr., 79, of North Haven, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 25, 2023.

For 54 years, he was the beloved husband of his sweetheart, Patricia Gormley Lawler. Larry was born in New Haven on December 3, 1943, and was the son of the late Edwin and Mary Noonan Lawler.

Larry played football for the Westchester Bulls, a farm team for the New York Giants. He then proudly served as a New Haven Firefighter for 27 years, until his retirement in 1997. Larry was an avid golfer and enjoyed his many rounds played with friends. He was a big fan of the New York Giants and Yankees.

What he enjoyed the most was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally.

Beloved father of Lawrence (Colleen) Lawler and Kelly (William) Burns. Loving grandfather of Liam and Aidan Lawler, and Patrick and Ryan Burns. Brother of Kathleen Bourke and the late Ann Giordano, Patricia Anderson and Thomas Lawler. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The visiting hours will be Thursday, Sept. 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday morning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
