Obituary: Leroy R. Haynes, 79, Of North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Leroy R. Haynes, 79, of North Haven, formerly of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Hamden Health Care Center with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Mary Lee Lorentzen Haynes.

Leroy was born in Jamaica, New York on March 31, 1943 and was the son of the late Leroy W. and Christine Maier Haynes. He worked in sales for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for many years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Palmetto Hall Golf Association.

Leroy was a sports enthusiast, especially football and baseball. His favorite teams were the San Francisco Giants and Buffalo Bills.

Father of Leroy Haynes and Michael Haynes (Robin). Grandfather of Michael, Matthew and Samantha Haynes. Also survived by his sister Virginia Haynes.

The visiting hours will be on Friday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Entombment will be privately held in the All Saints Mausoleum.
