Obituary: Robert V. Stefanowski Sr., 92, Of North Haven
Bob was well-known throughout the New Haven region as a stellar athlete. He had a long and successful career at SNET before retirement.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): Robert V. Stefanowski Sr. of North Haven, husband of the late Eleanor Dmuchowski Stefanowski, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 27, 2022.
Born in New Haven, CT on May 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Casper Stefanowski and Loretta Sweeten. He was predeceased by a brother Ernest Collins and a sister, Loretta Steeves.
Bob was well-known throughout the New Haven region as a stellar athlete. A soccer, basketball and baseball player at Hillhouse High School, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts and was voted "Most Athletic" in his 1948 graduating class. His athletic fame continued into his adulthood as he participated on a number of industrial league teams.

In 1952, he became a member of the Lucky Strike Hole in One Club at the Yale Golf Club for his hole in one on the 13th hole.
Bob was inducted into two Hall of Fames in 2014. The Hillhouse High School Athletic Hall of Fame awarded him for his athletic performance, high moral character, good citizenship and academic performance, and the Southern Connecticut Diamond Club Hall of Fame inducted him for his talents on the baseball field.

Prior to his retirement, Bob had a long and successful career at SNET.
Bob is survived by three daughters: Patricia Nixon of Hamden; Deborah Kelley and husband Thomas of West Hartford; Suzanne Hudd and husband Stephen of Columbia; and one son Robert Stefanowski Jr. and wife Amy of Madison. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ryan Kelley and wife Julie, Austin Kelley and Kate Kelley Boltz and husband Toby; Charles Jr. and wife Lydia, Ian and Bridget Nixon; Eleanor and Mia Hudd; and Lauren, Rachel and Megan Stefanowski; and three great-grandchildren: Alice, Henry and Thomas Kelley. In his later years Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting the Wallingford Flea Market on the weekends.
He will be remembered and missed for his kindness, generosity, wit and ability to repair anything. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather anyone could ask for.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 12 noon in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden.
