Obituary: Roberta Anne Fers, 71; Formerly Of North Haven

She opened Crafts in the Country in North Haven and enjoyed volunteering for many years for the North Haven Historical Society.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Roberta Anne Fers, 71, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Elim Park, Cheshire.

Roberta was born in New Haven on April 3, 1951 and was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Minnie Piscitelli Fers. She graduated from North Haven High School, Class of 1969 and received her degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Middlesex Community College.

Roberta was Office Manager at Robert S. Fers Inc. for many years before she opened Crafts in the Country in North Haven. She used her artistic talents within Therapeutic Recreation, serving as Coordinator of “Creative Expressions Circle of Friends” art program for patients at Gaylord Specialty Hospital and Rehabilitation.

Roberta received accolades for the many years she coordinated the Creative Expressions Art Show, Holiday Craft Fairs and many events displaying Gaylord patient’s paintings, pottery, and arts and crafts work. She was a member of the North Haven Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge 2805, The Mayflower Society and, for many years enjoyed volunteering for the North Haven Historical Society.

Roberta was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and UCONN men’s and women’s basketball. She shared her love of arts and crafts with her family and friends, and especially enjoyed teaching children’s crafts.

Loving sister of Mary Lou (Earl) Stamp, Robert S. Fers Jr. and Anne Fers (Bob Barker), devoted aunt of Jason and Amy (Harris) Stamp, Douglas and Alyssa (Burns) Stamp, Erin Fers, Robert Fers III (Katie Lorentz) and Samantha Fers, cherished great aunt of Charles, Eloise and Finnley Stamp.

Roberta will be missed by her many loving cousins and lifelong friends. Her family would like to thank the caring and dedicated staff at Elim Park Skilled Nursing in Cheshire and her special friends and caregivers Jen Labieniec and Maureen Mayo.
