Crews extinguished the fire Monday night in North Haven, according to officials.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — An office at a woodworking shop was damaged in a fire Monday night in North Haven, according to officials.

Officials said the building was a commercial mixed-occupancy building and was partially occupied at the time of call.

The first-arriving crews found light smoke in the area and had to search the building for the source of the fire, according to officials.
“After gaining entry into multiple closed occupancies, fire personnel found a room and contents fire in an interior office of a woodworking shop,” officials wrote in a post on the North Haven Fire Department’s Facebook page. “The fire was quickly extinguished but caused moderate heat and smoke damage to the office. Most of the fire was contained to the office area due to closed doors inside the building that limited fire spread. There was a smoke detector present in an adjacent office that was sounding but it was not part of a monitored alarm system and did not alert the FD of the fire. There were no injuries to either firefighters or civilians.”

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the North Haven Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office.
“The North Haven Fire Department would like to remind everyone about the importance of closing doors in home and businesses to prevent fire spread in buildings, especially bedroom doors when you are sleeping,” officials wrote.
