Op-Ed: North Haven Write-In Candidate States Case for 34th District State Senate Seat
David DeBlasi is a declared write-in candidate against Republican incumbent Len Fasano, who also received the Independent Party's nomination

I am running for the 34th district Connecticut senate seat as a declared write-in candidate against incumbent Leonard Fasano. I am his only challenger in the November 4th 2014 election.
A few months ago I decided to run based upon my belief that no one should be able to run un-opposed, the people need to have a choice no body else stepped up to the plate to run. As someone who voted in the previous election for Fasano and supported him by having his lawn sign on my front yard I alongside others in our district feel betrayed over his support for the bill SB1160 “AN ACT CONCERNING GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND CHILDREN’S SAFETY.” This do nothing feel good legislation that would not have prevented the tragedy that occurred at Sandy Hook. Instead of getting to the main reason as to why this occurred and getting to the root cause and corrective action our 2nd amendment rights were trampled upon due to the acts of a mad man and poor parenting. You cannot legislate against evil actions and expect them to stop people from carrying out such acts. All that this bill did was make the innocent law abiding gun owners into criminals overnight, instead of improving on the importance of mental health reform.

We need to bring manufacturing back to Connecticut! Fewer and fewer products are being made and manufactured in Connecticut we used to be a thriving state known for our manufacturing capabilities. Jobs machining and assembling of parts are being outsourced to other states and its time we bring it back to Connecticut and stop what we do have left from leaving. We have a rich firearms and aerospace manufacturing history and I want to preserve that and keep and create jobs that are important to the average Joe.
We need to and must invest more in school safety. I would propose trained armed (concealed carry) guards in our schools, there are veterans and retired police officers who would be more then qualified in protecting our children thus also creating jobs.

Getting control over Connecticut’s out of control spending is a must if we are going to continue down the road we are on its only going to keep getting harder to gain control over our spending issues.
Please remember that on November 4th you DO have a choice on the ballot for your state senator other than Fasano (R) and Fasano (I), and if you’re ready for some positive change in Hartford and someone who will work for the people please write my name David DeBlasi in ballot box “3G”.
Thank you for your time and consideration
Very Truly Yours
