Owner Charged After Found With Seized Dog: North Haven Police
The dog went missing from the animal control after being seized for a quarantine period for a "dog bite incident," according to police.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A dog that went missing from quarantine after a biting incident was found Monday morning and its owner has been charged, according to North Haven police.
North Haven Animal Control officers seized a lab/pit mix on June 18 after it was involved in a “dog bite incident” for a quarantine period, according to officials. The next morning, animal control officers found that the dog was missing.
The animal control tried contacting the dog’s owner, Michael Kirkland, but he couldn’t be found, according to officials. North Haven police assisted and found Kirkland on Monday morning at a West Haven veterinarian clinic with his dog, officials said.

Kirkland was charged with second-degree criminal trespass. The dog was re-seized by animal control officers to complete its quarantine period, according to police.
