Package Thief Confronted By Homeowner, Arrested: North Haven Police
The suspect left the package after being confronted by the homeowner and was later arrested, police said.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New York man was arrested Thursday after police said he tried to steal a package from a home in North Haven.
Police responded to a report of a man trying to steal a package from a home on Corey Road.
The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Heriberto Perez-Cabral of Bronx, New York, ran from the scene after he was confronted by the homeowner, according to police.

Police said Perez-Cabral left the package, which contained a new iPad, and was seen getting into a dark Honda with tinted windows that was parked down the street.
Responding officers found the vehicle traveling on Clintonville Road where he was taken into custody, according to police.

Perez-Cabral was arrested and charged with criminal attempt to commit fourth-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
“There have been a rash of similar crimes being committed around the region,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “If you are ordering electronics, use caution as suspects may be tracking the deliveries and plan to take the packages when delivered.”
