Plans For New Private School Rejected In North Haven

The Planning & Zoning Commission rejected a plan to build a new private school in North Haven.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Plans to build a private school at 5100 Ridge Road in North Haven were rejected by the North Haven Planning & Zoning Commission this week, according to the New Haven Register.

The Register reported the Slate School planned to repurpose a decommissioned church and build a second campus in town. Neighbors who were against the plan claimed it would be too big for the site, cause traffic and noise issues, and create adverse environmental impacts among other issues, according to the Register.

Slate School currently has a K-6 school constructed at 124 Mansfield Rd. in North Haven, where it maintains a 25-acre campus and nature conservancy. The school opened in 2018 with kindergarten and first grade.
