Quinnipiac University to host ‘Women in Leadership Panel’

North Haven, Conn. – Two successful female business owners from Connecticut will take part in a “Women in Leadership Panel: Becoming an Authentic Leader,” from 9-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in MNH 101 in the Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Quinnipiac University, 370 Bassett Road. This event is free and open to the public.

The panel will include Beverlee Dacey, president of Amodex, and Diane Winston, CEO and founder of Winston Strategic Partners. Catlin Wells, Title IX coordinator at Quinnipiac, will moderate the panel. Each will share their experiences and provide tips on being an authentic leader.

Sponsored by the People’s United Center for Women and Business at Quinnipiac University and the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization, this event also will celebrate Women Entrepreneurship Week, which runs from Oct. 19-26.

Julia Fullick-Jagiela, co-director of the People's United Center for Women and Business and associate professor and chair of management, said, “We are excited to hear from these successful female business owners as they provide us with strategies for navigating this challenging area.”

“Women are consistently facing barriers to being authentic in the workplace,” said Kiku Jones, co-director of the People's United Center for Women and Business and associate professor of computer information systems. “Women of color in particular feel forced to diminish their cultural differences to even be accepted as leaders and move ahead.”
