Elizabeth M. Frione, 102

Elizabeth M. Frione, 102, of North Branford, wife of the late Felice Frione, passed away, September 20, 2011 at Connecticut Hospice.

She was born in Rutland, Vermont on August 8, 1909, the daughter of John and Genevieve Maturo Mammolite. She married, became a homemaker and raised her family. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and playing bingo.

She is survived by five children, Angelo Frione and his wife Marie of North Branford, Eugene Frione and his wife Veronica of North Haven, John Frione of East Haven, Amelia Troiano and her husband Sam of North Branford and Genevieve Wall DeMarseilles and her husband Francis of North Branford; two sisters, Amelia Valentino of North Haven and Mary Carroll of California; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers; 3 sisters and a grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, North Branford. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Family and friend are invited to call at Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Road (Rte. 22 South at Rte. 80), on Friday from 8:30 am – 9:30 am prior to the funeral Mass.

Jennie Veronica Zych DePonte, 85

Jennie Veronica Zych DePonte, 85, formerly of St. John Commons, North Haven was called to heaven by her heavenly father on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Arden House Care & Rehabilitation Center, Hamden.

She was the beloved wife of 65 years to Charles DePonte. Born in New Haven on January 13, 1926; daughter of the late John and Stella Zych. Jennie was a longtime resident of North Haven; was past member of the American Legion-Murray/Reynolds Post #76 Women’s Auxillary. Mother of Charles Michael DePonte of Quartz Hill, CA. Grandmother of Charlene Michelle DePonte and Anna Marie DePonte both of Quartz Hill, CA and the late Charles Michael DePonte, Jr. Predeceased by brothers Henry and Raymond Zych.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Saturday morning, Sept. 24, 2011 at 11:00 in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven. There will be no visiting hours. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with her arrangements.

John A. Whitmore, Sr., 49

John A. Whitmore, Sr., 49, of  North Haven passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 after a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband of Diana Katynski Whitmore.

John was born in New Haven on September 30, 1961, son of Don (Corinne) Whitmore, Sr. of North Haven and the late Doreen Andrus Whitmore. John had worked was a salesman at McDermott until his illness. Father of Cheryl A. Whitmore , Sarah J. Whitmore and John A. Whitmore, Jr. Brother of Donald A. Whitmore, Jr. and Gina M. Ferris both of Clinton, Heather (Joseph) Porteriko of Glastonbury and Jodi L. Whitmore of East Haven. John was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Herbert and Elizabeth Scarano Whitmore, Sr. and maternal grandparents Vick and Lillian Andrus. John is also survived by a host of family and friends.

His Funeral Procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Wednesday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 to 7 PM.
