NORTH HAVEN, CT — A group of rescuers are seeking justice for a kitten that was thrown from a car into oncoming traffic on I-91 and eventually euthanized due to the extent of its injuries, according to the New Haven Register.

Kate Ramunni of the Register reports that the black kitten, which was estimated to be less than 8 weeks old, was rescued by motorists who saw it thrown from a car between exits 8 and 9 on I-91 North on the New Haven/North Haven line at about 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

The male kitten, which was named Lieutenant Dan after the character in “Forrest Gump,” was cared for by his rescuers but eventually euthanized due to the extent of his injuries, including two broken legs, paralysis and possible internal bleeding, according to Ramunni.
