Scarano and Bonassi Set New School Records in Indoor Track

Danielle Scarano and Martina Bonassi both set new school records during the CIAC Class L Girls Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet, which was held Saturday at the New Haven Athletic Center. Scarano logged a 9.60 in the 55 meter hurdles, erasing the old NHHS record of 9.62 which she had previously set. Bonassi’s 9-feet 6-inch leap sets a new school record in the pole vault. The Indians’ previous indoor mark was 9-1. Kathleen Lewis added a fourth place 34-2 in the shot put.

As a team, the Maroon and While finished 11^th out of 15 teams with 13 points.

“I’m pleased with the girls’ results. They stepped up and set 2 new school records. Don’t forget, Martina was coming back from a broken ankle,” Coach Marc Celmer said.

Lewis and Bonassi have qualified for the State Open, which will take place on Saturday at the NHAC.
