ST. JOHN'S CHURCH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

North Haven, CT – St. John’s Episcopal Church, on the Green in North Haven, announces the 2014 St. John’s Annual Parish Golf Tournament to be held on Thursday, October 9th, 2014 at Lyman Orchards Golf Course in Middlefield, CT. It will be a scramble format, with a shotgun start, and green fees are $140. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. with the scramble starting at 9:30 a.m. At the conclusion, all participants are invited to gather at Lyman Orchards for a fantastic meal, with an Anglican Drawing.

Net proceeds to benefit local area fuel assistance programs of the towns of North Haven, Hamden, North Branford, and Wallingford and St. John’s Church. These programs supplement the federally funded Energy Assistance Program, providing funds for home heating oil or other heating utilities to qualified residents on an emergency basis during the cold weather months. These supplemental programs are funded only by donations from churches, civic organizations and private individuals. St. John’s is committed to meeting this need in the coming winter.

The Rev. Matt Lincoln says, “Churches are naturally communities themselves, but they are also integral parts of the larger communities in which they are located. We want to invite the broader community to partner with us in helping neighbors who are struggling to get through this winter with enough fuel to heat their homes. Our goal is to pull together for everyone’s sake.”
