Stolen Vehicle Crashes, Suspects Flee: North Haven Police
Police are crediting an alert resident with helping to deter potential crime by reporting a suspicious incident in North Haven.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — Police are crediting an alert resident with helping to deter potential crime by reporting a suspicious incident in North Haven.
A resident on Garfield Avenue called police on Sunday and reported two suspicious men in hooded sweatshirts looking into vehicles, according to officials.
Police said two minutes later, upon the officer’s arrival, a vehicle determined to be a 2018 Nissan Rogue fled from the area.

“Moments later, at the intersection of Skiff Street / Hartford Turnpike, the Nissan collided with another vehicle and occupant(s) fled from the vehicle,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “A perimeter was set up in the area and a k-9 unit was utilized to attempt to locate the suspects, but was unsuccessful.”
Police said the Nissan was found to be stolen out of Cheshire. No other crimes associated with the vehicle were reported in North Haven, and no injuries were reported from the accident, according to police.

“While apprehension and arrest were the ultimate goal, this incident highlights that a quick response and good witnesses/observation can be helpful in deterring crime,” police wrote. “Had this caller not called, these suspects may have had more time in town, and could have been successful in the crimes they came here to commit.
