All North Haven schools were deemed to be safe after a video of a middle school student waving an apparent gun was shared on social media.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A video shared on social media of a North Haven Middle School student waving an apparent gun prompted an investigation by police and led to the seizure of an airsoft gun. Police were notified on Monday, April 1, of a short video that was posted on Snapchat over the weekend that showed a North Haven Middle School student “waving what appeared to be a firearm,” according to police.
“Upon learning this, North Haven High School and Middle School Resource Officers immediately coordinated with school administrative staff to ensure the safety of all North Haven students,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “The middle school student was identified and it was determined he was not present at school today. An investigation revealed the firearm in question was an airsoft gun, which was located and seized pending the outcome of this investigation.
“The airsoft gun was never on school property, nor were any threats to the school or students ever established. There were no disruptions to school services and all North Haven schools were deemed to be safe.”
